Who should attend?

The course is designed for company car drivers, company van drivers, or drivers who receive a car allowance.

Any employee who is required to drive either a company car, company van or receives a car allowance that needs to be thinking about the factors that impact on a driver’s attitude and develop skills required to address these. This course is ideal for those who require knowledge on the legal requirements for both a vehicle and a driver, ensuring that they enter the public highway safely.

The course will challenge driver attitudes toward road safety by setting out the clear requirements and those that candidates may be reluctant to address. The course will ultimately help delegates review their own driving behaviours and allow them to gain the initiative to improve that behaviour.


To provide individuals with:

• An understanding of the principles of road safety when choosing their company vehicle

• The requirements for prestart checks being carried out and the legal requirements

• Skills to deal with the factors that lead to unsafe driving behaviors

• Identify what is meant by vulnerable road users and to help ensure their safety

• Understand what actions may be needed to take in several emergency situations including breakdowns and accidents


The course includes:

  • Exploration of the motivations for good driving behaviour

  • Corporate responsibilities and risk management

  • Prestart checks and preventative maintenance

  • Techniques to help delegates adopt a safer driving attitude

  • How to deal with situations that may arise when driving on the public highway

Based in a training room, the day is packed full of a number of interactive activities that are combined with a number of blended learning techniques, leading to an extremely thought-provoking and highly stimulating day. It tackles a range of skills which, will help an individual become safer and effective when driving a motor vehicle both whilst in and out of the workplace.
