Delegates will explore the operation of bulk tankers, including the role of valves, seals, and pneumatic systems, and learn how to carry out thorough pre-start checks. The course also highlights the correct use of PPE, risks associated with pressurised systems during loading and unloading, and best practices when discharging into silos. Road safety and awareness are covered, with a focus on the impact of other road users. The day concludes with guidance on essential end-of-shift procedures.

For drivers who are required to hold the MP Connect card or all drivers of Bulk Powder Tankers
Aims
By the end of the course, learners will have an increased awareness of personal safety, including necessary precautions before reaching their vehicle and the proper use of personal protective equipment. They will be able to identify common hazards and risks faced by bulk tanker drivers and understand the control measures required to prevent incidents. Learners will also recognise the importance of conducting thorough pre-start checks, including specific inspections of the tanker and its additional equipment. The course will help them distinguish between good and poor practices when driving on public roads, and understand the critical importance of incident reporting and completing a risk assessment before discharge.
