The course will engage delegates through a series of short lectures, demonstrations, discussions interactive exercises and videos with the objective of giving and refreshing both, experienced and new Truck mixer operatives’ knowledge and understanding. Identifying the importance of using correct procedures when accessing their vehicle. Taking the delegates through case studies, interactive exercises and discussions of best practice, it gives the delegates the opportunity to put themselves in scenarios and consider how their own behaviours would impact the outcomes in a variety of situations. The course is delivered in a number of stages from the start of day through to the end and tasks delegates must ensure are completed.

By the end of the course the learner should. • Understand why keeping yourself safe including before you get to your vehicle is crucial • Understand the hazards, risks, and risk control measures to help prevent incidents occurring. • Be able to identify a range of hazards associated with the day-to-day activities of a Truck Mixer. • Identify and recognise the requirements for completing a thorough pre-start check and the specific checks on a Truck Mixer and its additional equipment. • Understand the specific items of personal protective equipment and the reasons for using it and maintaining it. • Recognise the risks when loading at plant and discharging on site. • Identify both good and poor practice when travelling on the public highway. • Identify the things that can cause vehicle rollovers and how to reduce the risk • Identify the importance of reporting incidents
